Uniforms

From Rainbow Six Wiki

[edit] Why

The reasons for uniforms are to help team operatives identify each other in combat scenarios. Some uniforms are designed for protection and use Kevlar padding. Others are designed to be tactically efficient and provide the maximum amount of storage space for weapons, ammunition, and gear. Camouflaged uniforms are meant to help their wearers blend in with the surrounding environment. The role of the operators wearing the uniform will generally dictate which type of uniform is worn. Military, police, and special forces all have their own unique uniforms tailored to their needs and tasks.

[edit] Uniforms in Rainbow Six

The standard, most commonly seen uniform on the Rainbow operatives is a light blue pattern, though an all-black uniform is also frequently observed.

[edit] In Vegas 2

In the first level of Vegas 2 (Pic des Pyrénées hostage situation in France), Rainbow personnel is also seen wearing the snow camouflage, consisting of a black-stained white pattern. In the same game, all NPC Rainbow operatives (aforementionned personnel, Domingo ChavezLogan Keller, Gabriel Nowak, Jung Park, Michael Walters) protective equipement consist in the emblematic Rainbow "ballistic" Helmet, Rainbow signature vests and specially designed elbow and knee protections (not accessible to Bishop customization).

In the game, the terrorists' attires differs following the missions. For instance, they wear the same "snow" camo as the Rainbow in the first level (though with differents hats and kevlar vests) but will be seen wearing British desert DPM camo in the following level. Popular camos among terrorist ranks include the Russian blue camo, the red camo and, strangely, US Military's M81 Woodland camo. Terrorists sport a wide array of hats (caps, berets, tuques) but also wear the anti-riot helmet (in the case of the shielded ones) and commonly wear balaclavas and gas masks. Their vests depend largely on the level and on the speciality of the character : snipers will simply wear shirts while machinegunners will be equipped with heavily armoured vests.

The S.W.A.T policemen in the Elements Casino level are designed wearing LAPD's navy blue pattern, sporting anti-riot helmets and a variant of the Rainbow "ballistic" vest (with S.W.A.T written in white letters on the back). Gabriel Nowak's "NSA Agent outfit" consists in black clothes, a Rainbow vest, a mouthless balaclava and night vision googles.
