A Red Dot Sight is a broad naming convention for a type of non-magnifying reflex sight for firearms, and other devices that require aiming, that gives the user a point of aim in the form of an illuminated red dot. Red Dot Sights give a nearly unobstructed view of the shooter's target unaffected by parallax or distance while giving them a crosshair from which to shoot. This makes it regarded as a fast, easy to use and versatile sight for police, military and hunting purposes alike.

The Red Dot Sight is a weapon attachment in the Rainbow Six universe.

Variants[]

Four variants of the RDS are available: NATO, Russian, M4S, and Handgun. With the release of the Demon Veil expansion, three of the variants are available on all weapons that are capable of attaching a Red Dot Sight.

  • The NATO Red Dot, designated in-game as Red Dot A, comes with a thick, somewhat obstrusive casing, and a simple reticle in the form of a dot. The dot on the NATO variant is somewhat big and can, to an extent, block line of sight on the object aimed at. The NATO variant also comes with a riser attached on specific weapons to avoid obstruction of vision when aiming down sights.
  • The Russian Red Dot Sight, designated in-gane as Red Dot B which is notably smaller than the NATO Red Dot Sight, and features a thin casing but a more complicated reticle.
  • The M4S Red Dot Sight, designated in-game as Red Dot C, was introduced in the Operation Shadow Legacy expansion. It features a less obstructive casing and a smaller reticle compared to the NATO. The downside is that the M4S variant obstructs the bottom right portion view when aiming down sights. It has become available for several primary weapons.
  • The Handgun Red Dot Sight was introduced in the Operation Blood Orchid expansion. and is unique to RG15, P-10C and Bailiff 410. It is pre-attached and cannot be removed or switched with other Red Dot variants. It features a thin casing and a small reticle, and is relatively small in size.
