File:Rainbow Six Siege Mute Operator Video

Mark R. "Mute" Chandar is a Defending Operator featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege. He features a medium armor and mobility rating and is capable of placing the GC90 "Moni" Signal Disruptor which jams communications for remotely detonated gadgets such as Breach Charges or Drones.

Biography

Chandar graduated from secondary school at the age of twelve. A science prodigy, he was accepted into the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering at fourteen after completing an internship at a British tech company during his gap year, working on prototypes for a new security system.

Psychological Profile

Chandar is highly intelligent and analytical. He is used to being the youngest and smartest one in the room. A man of few words, he prefers brevity and clarity to extemporizing. His curt nature is easily misconstrued as rudeness.

Gameplay Description

  • Mute is your best protection against Breach Charges and Drones: his Signal Disruptor blocks the signal from a remote detonator or control from reaching any device within range. Effectively rendering the device useless as long as the “Moni” is active or both the device and remote leave the affected area.
  • Signal Disruptors have a limited range of a few meters, so use them wisely. Placing them in a barricaded doorframe will help prevent drones from entering a room, or at the bottom of a wall (reinforced or breakable) to prevent the detonation of breach charges.
  • Beware of Thatcher, as he can throw EMP grenades that will destroy the Signal Disruptor. Twitch can also use her Shock Drone to destroy the “Moni” from a distance before it is affected by the signal disruption. Try not to leave them exposed to ranged attacks, because it is a valuable asset for Mute.
  • It is a good idea to select the Deployable Shield in your loadout. You can use it to hide your Signal Disruptor if you have to place them in exposed positions. This will help to prevent enemies from disabling them at a distance.
  • The Signal Disruptor must be placed directly beside the structure intended in order to function correctly.
  • It is advised to deploy Signal Disruptors outside doors during the preparation phase to terminate drones. However, once the action phase begins, you should relocate your Signal Disruptors to walls, especially non-reinforced ones, as a breached wall leaves you more exposed than a breached door.
  • Signal Disruptors placed beneath trap doors in the ceiling will not prevent Attackers from breaching it.
  • Ash's breaching rounds detonate automatically, and they are immune to your Signal Disruptor effects.

Loadout Description

Developed by Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) the “Moni” was originally designed as a portable device that could blackout any radio transmissions or communication devices for covert or sensitive meetings between British government officials and foreign interests. As one of the primary engineers on the project, Chandar created a variant of the device that doubled the effective range of the original GCHQ signal disruptor.

Trivia

  • Mute's height was originally labelled as 5'6" (1.70m) but was later changed to 6'1" (1.85m) following the release of the Operation Black Ice expansion.[1]
  • The loadout overview for Mute incorrectly spells Disruptor "Disrupter."
  • Mute seems to be wearing an M50 CBRN mask, the current U.S respirator, this is odd as the current UK respirator is the General Service Respirator. Whilst Mute's mask bears some resemblance to the GSR, it shares more in common with the M50.
  • Mute's Signal Disruptors changed from a solid black to a more chrome-black coloring following the Operation Dust Line release.
