The Mossberg 500 is a series of pump-action shotguns manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. The Mossberg 500 is the most sold shotgun in the world and only second to the Remington 870 series of shotguns.

Although the Mossberg 500 itself did not appear in the Rainbow Six universe, there are several variants of the weapon that have. These are the Mossberg 500 Cruiser, 500 Tactical, and M590A1.

Siege[]

"12-gauge pump action shotgun favored by SAS, optimal at close range."
— In-game description

The M590A1 is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is available for use by all SAS Operators and the Secret Service Operator Warden.[1]

Overview[]

The M590A1 is a jack-of-all-trades among pump-action shotguns. Decent in damage and mid-ranged combat, the M590A1 is an especially useful pick on operators Smoke and Mute, as their SMG-11 sidearm allows them to not compromise on mid-range firepower while also bringing a shotgun for utility, creating rotations, and close-range engagements.

The pump cycle is reasonably quick, though not nearly as quick as the GSG 9's M870.

Pros[]

  • High damage per pellet
  • Relatively quick pump cycle
  • Decent damage dropoff
  • Utilty use

Cons[]

  • Low reserve ammo

The Ambusher archetype of whitemasks can often be equiped with this weapon, Roamers can use it as well but are very rarely equiped with it.

Trivia[]

Vegas[]

  • The weapon is incorrectly modeled with a magazine tube that is much too short to chamber the 8 rounds it holds in-game.

Siege[]

  • The weapon was called 591A1 in the Alpha versions of the game.
  • In the Season 1 Pro League Weapon Skin FAQ promotional image, the M590A1 had an Angled Grip and an ACOG scope equipped on the weapon, even though those attachments are unavailable for this weapon. In the same image, the C8-SFW assault rifle is also equipped with a vertical grip, which is also not an available attachment.[2]
  • There is a cosmetic shell holder on the right side of the butt stock.
