Hk21e 02

The HK21 in real life, with an attached scope.

The HK21 is a machine gun derivative of the G3 rifle. The HK21 is a general-purpose machine gun manufactured by Heckler & Koch that chambers the 7.62x51mm NATO round. The German military designates the weapon as the G8.[1]

Although the HK21 itself did not appear in the Rainbow Six universe, there are variants of the weapon that have. These variants are the 21E, the 23E, and the G8A1. The HK23E is a 5.56x45mm NATO conversion of the HK21E.

The HK21 is categorized as a light machine gun in the Rainbow Six universe. The 21E appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. The 23E only appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, and the G8A1 only appears in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue SpearEdit

The 7.62mm 21E3 LMG is a weapon featured in the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear Urban Operations expansion pack.

Based on the 7.62 G3A3 framework, the 7.62mm 21E3 LMG is a light machine gun firing the 7.62x51mm round from a 100 round box magazine. This round packs more punch than the 5.56x45mm round. In addition, the 7.62mm 21E3 LMG has a single shot and three round burst option. It is more accurate than the M249 SAW, but is harder to control when moving around. As with the 5.56 M249 LMG, this weapon is best used from a stable firing stance.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven ShieldEdit

There are two variants of the HK21 in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield.

21EEdit

The 21E is a weapon featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. The weapon is called the HK 21E3 in the Urban Operations expansion, but the weapon's name is later changed to 7.62mm 21E3 LMG in the Black Thorn expansion pack.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six SiegeEdit

"GSG 9 LMG, accurate in short range. Capable of long range controlled fire."
— In-game description

The G8A1 is a light machine gun featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is available for use by GSG 9 Recruits and the Operator IQ.

CharacteristicsEdit

Unlike the 6P41 or M249 that rely on ammo capacity and suppression, the G8A1 on the other hand has half the ammo. It compensates with a rate of fire 850 rounds per minute and a faster reload time.

This means that the user can mow down targets before they even have a chance to react. However, due to the rapid fire nature of this LMG, trigger-happy users will find themselves reloading frequently. In worst case scenarios, they burn through all their ammo.

TriviaEdit

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 and 2

  • The 21E is limited to full-auto fire in-game, despite the weapon having a fire selector in real life. On the model of the 21E, the player could see the option for 3 round burst, and semi auto.
  • The 21E in-game has a fire selector that is locked on safe at all times.
