Breach Charge IRL

Door Breaching is a process used by military, police, or emergency services to force open closed and/or locked doors. A wide range of methods may be used in any given situation but Explosive breaching can be the fastest method, though it is also the most dangerous, to both the breachers and the room occupants. Depending on the situation, explosive breaching is potentially slower than a ballistic breach due to the large standoff required when using explosives, if there is no cover available. Breaching can be performed with a specially formed breaching charge placed in contact with the door, or with various standoff breaching devices.

Explosive breaching charges can range from highly focused methods, such as detcord, plastic explosives, or strip shaped charges that explosively cut through doors or latches, to large satchel charges that can breach even reinforced concrete bunkers.

Breaching charges are used to explosively remove doors for rapid entry. Flashbangs do not need to be used in conjunction with a breaching charge as they stun, wound, or even kill anyone nearby.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six SiegeEdit

"Deployable charge capable of blowing up walls, floors and barricades."
— In-game description

The Breach Charge is a gadget featured in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. It is a remotely detonated explosive device that can breach non-reinforced walls, windows, and floors with ease. This is often used to create entrances to rooms held by the Defenders and can create new sight lines as well as lines of fire. The majority of the Attackers have the option to either utilize the breach charge or a variation of the grenade.

UsageEdit

Breach charges can destroy any destructible object, which includes walls, barriers and floors. This allows the Attackers to attack from unexpected directions and get into rooms that wouldn't have otherwise been accessible. Placing the charge involves going up to a breakable object and unfolding the explosive from its package form onto the object, making it ready to detonate.

However, Breach Charges (with the exception of Thermite's Exothermic Charge) cannot pierce through reinforced objects, such as walls supported by armor panels and reinforced roof hatches. In addition to this, any charge that is shot or placed on an electrified object will disappear, wasting it. Mute's Signal Disruptor also can prevent Breach Charges from activating. The Breach Charge is even capable of destroying Castle's armor panels.

TipsEdit

  • You can look at the indicator at the breach charge to see if it's possible to plant the charge in the current location. It has three colors - green, yellow and red.
    • Green - the surface is breachable
    • Yellow - the surface is semi-breachable
    • Red - the surface is unbreachable.

VariantsEdit

  • Exothermic Charge - a more powerful variant of the Breach Charge, it can blow through any destructible object, reinforced or not. However, it still cannot blow through non-destructible objects such as brick walls.
